Sekou Sundiata has performed extensively as both a bandleader and a poet. He has performed at the Smithsonian and was featured on Bill Moyer's The Language of Life series on poetry. He and Craig Harris have created and produced five works for theater. He has received fellowships from Sundance Film Institute, New York Foundation for the Arts, and the Rockefeller Foundation. Last year he received the New School's Distinguished University Teaching award.
