Kalup Linzy: Keys To Our Heart/Ova/Conversations in a Melody

Project Description
Kalup Linzy
Add Project to My Artbox
Capturing and lampooning the glamour of old Hollywood black and white films, Keys To Our Heart is a satirical gallery and museum video project. Composed of three vignettes, the film’s three characters¬–two females and one male–are portrayed by two cross-dressing men, with all the voices performed by Linzy. Through its use of voice-over, humor, and lavish costuming, Keys To Our Heart reveals the relationship between Hollywood glamour and drag performance in a narrative film. Ova, is a feature film that tells the story of Katessa, a soap opera obsessed actress, and her attempts at becoming a star. All voices are performed by Linzy. Conversation in a Melody, a retrospective book, features filmed and un-filmed screenplays and images from Keys To Our Heart and Ova and other projects since 2002.
