Revival Field originated as an environmental sculptural installation in 1991 at Pig's Eye Landfill in St. Paul, MN. It confirmed that certain plants can clean contaminated soil by absorbing heavy metal pollutants. Chin will create a new installation of the sculpture in Stuttgart, Germany. He has negotiated for the release of super-accumulating seeds to be sent to an agronomist in Germany and has garnered the support of both private industry and the U.S. Department of Agriculture in this transfer. Later he will work with German publishers on an artist-designed science book that details and documents for the first time the process and benefits of Revival Field. The project is an example of artwork that serves as the foundation for beneficial science.
