In Gravel, a mother takes her teenage daughter and the daughter's skater friend on a road trip to meet the ex-convict she's attracted to. Gravel subtly addresses the way generations remember their families and the multi-textured relationships that exist within them. Holly Willis, editor of RES, writes of Gravel "The film slowly unfolds to reveal delicate nuances of heartbreak and affection as a mother and teenaged daughter battle to assert themselves and yet still be paired. It's a thrillingly tenuous balance." Gravel debuted at the 2003 Sundance Film Festival and went on to screen at over fifteen US and European Film Festivals, including Los Angeles, Nantucket, the Hamptons, Atlanta, Cleveland, Nashville and Raindance. It premiered on the Sundance Channel in October of 2003. Steven Bognar is presently completing two feature documentaries, both years in the making.
